- 3Pick Amrit / Shubh / Labh / Chal for auspicious tasks.
- 4Avoid Kaal / Rog / Udveg for critical work.
Why devotees love this
- Traditional Gujarati/Marwari muhurta system.
- Faster than casting a full muhurat chart.
- Works with any language of prayer.
- Loved by traders, travellers and homemakers.
When people use Choghadiya
- 1Choosing a good time to leave for a journey (Chal).
- 2Business/finance in Labh choghadiya.
- 3Auspicious purchase in Amrit.
- 4Avoiding Kaal for signing anything critical.
Avoid these
- Ignoring the day lord — Sunday starts with Udveg (Sun), Monday with Amrit (Moon), and so on.
- Using clock hours — choghadiya periods are 1/8th of day/night length, so they stretch or shrink with the season.
- Blindly avoiding all inauspicious ones — they're windows for caution, not curses.
How Choghadiya is built
Day (sunrise→sunset) is split into 8 equal parts; night (sunset→sunrise) into 8 more. The sequence of names cycles: Udveg, Chal, Labh, Amrit, Kaal, Shubh, Rog. The starting name depends on the weekday.
